Head of Marketing Services, South West (Plymouth)

Creative, innovative, motivated and professional Head of Marketing Services, with excellent project and operational management skills, is currently needed to work as part of the business development team. Reporting to the Business Development Director you will be accountable for the alignment of all Marketing Operations activities with the firm’s overall strategy and business plans, and planning and implementing the necessary systems, procedures and measures to achieve day to day operational efficiency. This will include all aspects of marketing services including Events, PR and Communications, CRM database, Business Intelligence and Research and Library related resources, as well as supporting Business development and bid management activities. 

Key responsibilities:

·         Measuring and monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the services delivered by the centralised marketing function, including setting action plans and targets for delivering improved levels of marketing service.

·         Day to day operational management of the central marketing services capability (line management responsibility for 3/4 individuals in a variety of roles).

·         Optimising the firm's marketing processes, maximising cost effectiveness of delivering those services to the business in line with the strategic plans and priorities.

·         Providing coaching, mentoring support to the team to ensure service provided is of  highest quality & being continually improved.

·         Agency / outsourced relationship account management.

·         Working with the Business Development Managers and Bid Manager to support a range of business development activities for the firm.

Additional responsibilities will include:

·         Support the development of the firm's marketing communications approach in traditional / new media channels.

·         Assist with the implementation of strategic initiatives / projects as guided by the Business Development Director.

·         Oversee / Project manage the directory submissions process.

·         Manage initiatives to help target clients in conjunction with Business Development account manager resource.

About you:

·         A tenacious self-starter, able to work to tight deadlines and deliver to a very high standard.

·         Excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills.

·         Have proven experience of driving change and improvements to business processes within marketing services.

·         An effective problem solver, strong analytical skills and planning skills.

·         Strong people/team management and development experience. Proven and experienced as a team manager and leader within a marketing services environment, able to develop, coach and support team members.

·         Experience in the management and measurement of outsourced providers, including strong negotiation skills.

·         Ideally, specialist knowledge and experience of one or more of the following areas: Marketing Communications, CRM databases and/or e-marketing/internet development.

·         An understanding of a partnership environment. Awareness of the legal services environment including main competitors and key issues would be distinct advantage.

·         Experience of managing marketing budgets, highly commercially aware and financially literate.

In return you will receive a basic salary of c£50,000 doe + 25 days holiday, contributory pension scheme, death in service cover, discounted gym membership and childcare vouchers.
