Associate Finance Director

The Associate Finance Director will be professionally responsible for the management of the financial affairs of a grant aided (£800million+) division which employs 300 staff. You will provide financial advice and guidance to the organisation in order to achieve planned results and optimise the use of resources, (financial planning processes and budgets ensuring appropriate use of funds). Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the senior management team the Associate Finance Director has specific responsibility to ensure the development and implementation of effective and appropriate Financial Management strategies and policies.

The Associate Finance Director will also have a lead role in ensuring that financial controls are fully compliant to the required standards as detailed in Managing Public Money, and will work closely with Risk and Internal Audit teams.

Main duties;

 -          Ensure that best practice in accounting standards, propriety, legal obligations, risk management and other targets and objectives set by Government are met

-          Lead the Finance Team (20 people) and provide an optimum level of service provision throughout the organisation in accordance with their policies, budget allocation and statutory requirements

-          Contribute to effective business planning and ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial information and appropriate advice, to aid the effective management of the organisation

-          Lead on corporate governance, risk management and the prevention of fraud

-          Interface effectively with the centralised team to ensure that the services provided are in line with business requirements, are cost-effective and well managed

-          Oversee research grant policy, audits of grant expenditure etc

-          Contribute to corporate areas of activity, organisational development and council-wide cross-departmental strategies, projects or policies
